Located just outside of Siem Reap is PAGE (Program Advancing Girls' Education), part of the Life & Hope Association, which acts as a sanctuary for girls who wish to continue their education through high school and beyond. The primary goal of PAGE is to provide educational and life assistance to young girls in Cambodia, so that they may improve their lives and find hope for their future. Recently a new home was built for 15 females students, who are completing grades 10-12 at high school under the PAGE program. We will assist with the construction of a security wall around the new home to improve the student's privacy and safety. Prior to our community project work we discover the fascinating capital city of Phnom Penh, which is located at the confluence of the Mekong and the Tonle Sap rivers. We travel to the picturesque city of Battambang to see some of the countries best examples of French Colonial architecture as well as the many 11th century temples that dot the surrounding area, as well as enjoy a performance by Battambang's famous acrobatic circus. We take a fascinating boat journey across the Tonle Sap and Sangker Rivers, to witness the daily lives of the floating villages, before arriving at Siem Reap, the gateway to the enigmatic Angkor Wat temples. We view the temple complex by bike and tuk tuk, along the way learning about the history of this ancient religious site.
