Hotels
In cities and larger towns across Africa, you stay in carefully selected 3 to 4 star properties chosen for their comfort, character and proven reliability.
Most hotels are centrally located or well positioned for easy access to key sights, giving you time to explore and unwind between adventures. Many stays are chalet style, with a private bedroom and bathroom connected to a lounge area, offering added space and privacy.
On rare occasions, particularly in remote areas, shared bathroom facilities may apply. Each property is selected based on long standing performance and consistently strong traveller feedback.
Safari Lodges
In Africa’s wildlife regions, you stay in carefully selected safari lodges and permanent tented camps that place you close to the action while providing comfort at the end of each day.
These lodges are chosen for their setting, atmosphere and consistent service, often located within or on the edge of national parks and conservancies.
Accommodation is typically in private ensuite rooms or spacious tented suites, allowing you to relax in comfort while remaining immersed in the surrounding landscape.
Each property is selected for its strong track record, responsible practices and the quality of wildlife experience it offers.
Luxury Safari Lodges
In Africa’s premier wildlife regions, luxury safari lodges offer a higher level of comfort while keeping you immersed in the natural setting.
These properties feature spacious ensuite rooms or suites, often with private decks or balconies, along with additional facilities such as swimming pools and enhanced in-room amenities. In East Africa, this includes select Serene Lodges, while in Southern Africa you may stay in boutique 4 to 5 star safari lodges known for their refined design and attentive service.
Each lodge is chosen for its setting, quality of experience andconsistent delivery of comfort in the heart of the wilderness.
Riads
In Morocco, you may stay in a traditional riad, a restored townhouse typically located within the ancient medina.
Built around an internal courtyard, often with a garden or water feature, riads offer a peaceful retreat from the lively streets outside. Rooms vary in shape and size, reflecting the original architecture and adding to the sense of character and individuality.
Décor ranges from intricate tiled and carved details that honour traditional design to more contemporary interpretations with modern furnishings. Each stay offers an intimate introduction to Moroccan hospitality and atmosphere.
Permanent Safari Camps
Permanent safari camps offer an immersive way to experience Africa’s wilderness, combining the atmosphere of camping with the comfort of a lodge.
Accommodation is in individual tented rooms with built-in floors, proper doors and windows, and private ensuite bathrooms. Tents are typically set on raised platforms and may be sheltered under a solid roof, providing added protection while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.
Guest tents are usually arranged around a central dining and lounge area, creating a relaxed, communal setting. Power is supplied by solar energy or generator, reflecting the remote locations in which these camps operate.
Luxury Permanent Safari Camps
Luxury permanent safari camps offer an elevated wilderness stay, combining a fixed camp setting with enhanced comfort and refined design.
Suites are spacious and fully ensuite, often with private decks or balconies positioned to capture sweeping views over plains, rivers or waterholes. Many camps feature additional facilities such as swimming pools, lounge areas and upgraded in-room amenities, allowing you to relax in comfort between game drives.
Each camp is chosen for its location, quality of guiding and the immersive wildlife experience it delivers, paired with a consistently high standard of service.
Bedouin Camps
Found in desert regions in North Africa and the Middle East, these are permanent safari camps using traditional Bedouin tents and decor. Bathroom facilities may be basic as water is scarce in the desert. Power is limited to specific hours of the day and is usually by generator when available. Kerosene lanterns or candles provide night time lighting, adding to the ambience.
Camping
Camping in Africa means travelling with mobile tented accommodation, allowing you to stay close to wildlife areas and remote landscapes.
Depending on the trip style, you will sleep in either spacious dome tents or smaller trekking tents. On fully supported departures, your local crew erects and dismantles camp each day. On limited participation safaris, you may be asked to assist with setting up your tent. Shared camping infrastructure includes a dining tent, kitchen setup and a toilet tent.
Bathroom facilities are shared, and in very remote areas bush toileting may occasionally be required.

Mountain Huts
In Africa’s high mountain regions, accommodation is in simple mountain huts that provide basic shelter in remote alpine environments.
Huts typically feature dormitory-style rooms with shared bathroom facilities and are often used by other trekkers and climbing groups. Facilities are practical rather than private, reflecting the rugged nature of these routes.
Some huts have basic cooking areas used by your crew, while others have separate kitchen shelters nearby. This style of accommodation allows you to travel efficiently at altitude while maintaining a fully supported trekking experience.
