Teaching young people that making good decisions on how they choose to experience the world is a valuable lesson to teach. When they travel, they should consider opportunities that don't just benefit you and them, but also the places and communities that they'll visit, as well as the generations to come.
Our philosophy for operating School Travel Journeys is to provide as minimal impact travel as possible.
We encourage this by advocating for activity to be part of our itineraries, getting students off buses and undertaking an exploration of an area under their own steam.
Our updated Thoughtful Travel Charter defines our 11 objectives for operating programs, with a key goal to integrate ‘regenerative’ programs into every one of the World Expeditions Travel Group operations globally by 2030.
But what exactly is 'regenerative travel'?
It's about actively improving the social or environmental conditions of a destination where our travellers visit, utilising regenerative practices and purpose programs that leave the places better than we found them.
From a school travel perspective this style of experiential travel encourages a more holistic approach to education by incorporating real-world experiences into their learning process. Students immerse themselves deeper in the local cultures they encounter and learn even more from the communities they visit. This helps students understand what it means to be Global Citizens, encouraging positive change, both in their communities and beyond.
