Refuges or Gite Hostels

Used primarily on mountain walks across Europe, refuges and gîtes add character and camaraderie to your journey through alpine landscapes.

Accommodation is typically dormitory style, sometimes sleeping up to 40 people, with bunk beds common. Linen and blankets are provided, and bathroom facilities are shared. In some locations, private rooms may be available, though bathrooms are usually still shared.

Staying in a refuge or gîte is part of the mountain tradition, offering a welcoming, communal atmosphere at the end of a rewarding day on the trail.

Hotels

Across Europe, you often stay in characterful, family run hotels that reflect the personality of each region.

Ranging from 2 to 4 stars, these properties offer comfortable accommodation and a genuine connection to local life through your hosts. Hospitality is warm and personal, and local knowledge often enriches your time in town.

Where possible, locations are chosen to enhance your overall experience, whether in historic centres, mountain villages or scenic countryside settings.

Barges

On our European barge adventures with UTracks, your vessel becomes a floating hotel, carrying you gently between villages, vineyards and canal side towns. You unpack once and wake each day to a new landscape.

Cabins typically feature twin lower beds or bunk style berths, with some departures offering upgraded cabins with double beds. Facilities are compact yet comfortable, designed for relaxed cruising.

The onboard bar and dining area naturally becomes a gathering place each evening, while your crew, including an onboard cook, prepares meals that reflect the regions you travel through.

Farmhouse Bed & Breakfasts

On selected European adventures with UTracks, you stay in traditional farmhouse bed and breakfasts set in peaceful rural surroundings.

These properties are typically family run, offering comfortable rooms and a relaxed atmosphere that reflects local life. Mornings begin with hearty regional breakfasts, often featuring homemade or locally sourced produce.

A farmhouse stay provides a quieter, more personal base between days on the trail, connecting you to the landscape and communities you are travelling through.

Apartments

In some European destinations, accommodation may be in self contained apartments that offer added flexibility and independence during your stay.

Studios generally accommodate up to two people and include basic cooking facilities along with private bathroom amenities. If you are travelling with family or friends, larger apartments with separate bedrooms may be available.

Staying in an apartment provides extra space and the option to prepare simple meals, creating a relaxed and practical base in town or village settings.

Boats

On our European boat based adventures, cabin layouts vary depending on the design of the vessel and the shape of the hull.

Most departures include below deck berths as standard, with the option to upgrade to above deck cabins on selected trips. Cabins are simple yet functional, furnished with beds and compact storage such as a small wardrobe or open shelving, providing sufficient space for sleeping and stowing your travel bag.

Your crew, including an onboard cook, prepares meals throughout the journey, allowing you to relax and enjoy life on the water between daily activities.
