We arrive in Sydney full of energy and ready to head into the Blue Mountains for the first part of our adventure. En route, we pause for a powerful Welcome to Country and cultural introduction led by a Dharug elder, grounding us in the deep cultural significance of the landscape. Shortly after we arrive in Katoomba, the gateway to the Blue Mountains, we stop for a visit at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre. It's a great chance to explore the region’s geology, history and environment. Armed with fresh insight, we walk to Echo Point to take in the iconic Three Sisters and Jamison Valley views we’ve just learned about. By late afternoon, we arrive at our exclusive valley-top accommodation for dinner, before ending the day with a campfire astronomy session. Accommodation: Dorms

Today the focus is on conservation and environmental learning. After breakfast we spend the day participating in a series of activities focusing on indigenous culture, environmental education and conservation including bush tucker, indigenous art and land management. Following the recent bushfires in the Blue Mountains region, today’s environmental education will also teach us about the impacts of these bushfires to the natural environment and how our unique bushland recovers from these fire events. Today is a great day to focus on causes greater than ourselves. We return to our accommodation feeling more informed and inspired make a positive impact beyond this trip. Accommodation: Dorms

This morning after breakfast we join our expert abseiling guide for a thrilling abseiling session amongst the stunning Blue Mountains. We head to the escarpment of the Narrow Neck plateau. No prior experience is necessary as our guides will be providing all the instruction necessary for everyone to enjoy the activity. We start off on small cliffs moving on to more stunning larger descents as we progress through the day. Lunch is enjoyed while gazing at the vast views across the Megalong Valley. In the afternoon we have another opportunity to get hands on with a habitat restoration service program. It's a nice way to balance out our day - taking something for ourselves in the activities and giving something back through service. Accommodation: Dorms

Today we take on one of the most memorable adventures of the trip as we go canyoning through Juggler Canyon. A canyon is a narrow passage carved over time by flowing water, creating steep rock walls, pools and natural obstacles. Equipped with helmets and harnesses, we move through this dramatic landscape, scrambling over rocks, wading through water and navigating tight sections as a team. The journey is physically challenging, fun and constantly changing, encouraging problem solving and communication. Surrounded by towering stone walls and flowing water, we feel fully immersed in the environment. With guidance from our instructors and support from each other, we finish the canyon tired, energised and proud of what we have achieved together. Accommodation: Dorms

Meals:  B,L,D

It's our last full day in the Blue Moutains and we wake prepared to make the most of it. The first half of our day we spend walking a section of the iconic Prince Henry Clifftop Walk, a scenic trail connecting Katoomba and Leura. The path winds along the edge of the Jamison Valley, offering sweeping views of sandstone cliffs, deep valleys and distant escarpments. Along the way, we pass historic lookouts and landmarks, including views back towards Echo Point and the Three Sisters which we walked to at the beginning of our trip. After lunch we transfer to an Aboriginal cultural session to delve deeper into the indigenous history of our location. We get hands on with a range of traditional activities and spend time connect all we've learnt so far this week. We enjoy a group dinner under the stars and around the campfire sharing many stories, laughs, and reflections. Accommodation: Dorms

Meals:  B,L,D

This morning we bid farewell to Katoomba and head to Sydney observing the change in the landscape and the built environment as we get closer to the famous Sydney coastline. We have had an action packed last few days and so enjoy a slower pace in the afternoon exploring the Sydney Harbour including the famous Sydney opera House, Harbour Bridge, and The Rocks. There are plenty of opportunities to learn about Sydney's pre-colonial and colonial history and how it has become the modern city it is today. By late afternoon we transfer to our harbour-side accommodation which will be our base for the next three days. Accommodation: Cabins

Meals:  B,L,D

We wake to the salty sea breeze at Chowder Bay, a contrast to the cool mountain air of the Blue Mountains we've come from. After breakfast we dive into a hands-on day of conservation and marine science. Working alongside educators, we study coastal ecosystems and investigate marine life through simple field studies along the shoreline. Each activity helps us connect classroom learning to real-world action, reinforcing why caring for land and sea matters. It's a fun day working together which is finished off with the opportunity for a swim and relax at our coastal accommodation. Accommodation: Cabins

Meals:  B,L,D

Today we culminate our journey by collectively deciding on a coastal walk to complete together. Whether the famous Bondi to Coogee, Bondi to Watsons Bay, or Split to Manly walk - we know we will have a fantastic day with some amazing views of rugged headlands and golden beaches. In the afternoon we head out to view the city from the opposite perspective - on the water while on a ferry ride in the Sydney Harbour. It's a nice way to relax and enjoy some last moments together. The day concludes with a final group dinner - a chance to share stories, laughter and memories from an unforgettable adventure. Accommodation: Cabins

Meals:  B,L,D

We enjoy a relaxed morning, taking time to pack up and reflect on everything we have experienced. We then travel back to Sydney Airport for our flight home. From adventure activities to cultural learning and conservation work, the trip has been filled with memorable experiences. We leave feeling more confident, connected, and inspired, taking with us new skills, knowledge, and friendships that will stay with us long after the journey ends.

Learning outcomes for students

World Expeditions Schools journeys are designed to encourage positive personal development and the learning of life skills, while leaving the communities and environments we travel to, in a better condition than when we arrived.
The programs are designed to:
• Build strong friendships and bonds with their peers, their teachers, and the local people they meet.
• Increase the confidence to engage with new people, and collaboratively make informed decisions.
• Discover the benefits of working cooperatively together as a cohesive team, to achieve a common objective.
• Increase the ability to face, and cope with, mental and physical challenges and therefore increase resilience.
• Give students a chance to appreciate and care for the natural world. The environments we travel through are beautiful and often pristine, invariably the students will gain a deeper appreciation and understanding about how their individual actions impact on the environment.
• Learn personal skills i.e., time management, personal hygiene, responsibility for personal gear, patience, tolerance, and public speaking.
We help encourage students to learn what it means to be a true global citizen.
