Excited to finally be on our Fijian adventure, we arrive in Nadi and meet our dedicated guide who will accompany us throughout the journey. After settling in, we take part in a trip briefing and begin to familiarise ourselves with our surroundings, learning about Fijian culture and practicing some basic language. We then head out to explore Nadi, soaking up the sights, sounds and atmosphere of this vibrant town. If time allows, we may enjoy a swim before coming together as a group to share our first Fijian meal—an opportunity to connect and begin our journey immersed in local culture. Accommodation: Nadi multi-share rooms

Waking to our first morning in Fiji, we enjoy a tropical breakfast before beginning the day’s journey. We travel to Naidiri Marine Park, where we are introduced to local community conservation initiatives and coastal living. Working alongside community members, we learn how young Fijians help protect their marine environment through coral planting and stewardship programs. Through cultural exchanges and hands-on activities, we gain insight into the close relationship between communities and the ocean that sustains them. In the afternoon, we cool off with a swim before continuing on to Sigatoka, where we settle in for the evening. Accommodation: Coral Coast multi-share rooms

Meals:  Nil

We begin the day exploring the fascinating Sigatoka Sand Dunes, one of Fiji's most important natural and archaeological landscapes. Participating in a service activity, we learn about environmental management and the importance of protecting fragile ecosystems. Later, we meet a well known local marine biologist who introduces us to the incredible marine life of the Coral Coast before we head into the water to snorkel among colourful coral reefs and tropical fish. Accommodation: Coral Coast multi-share rooms

Leaving the coast behind, we travel into Fiji’s lush highlands to Namosi, a remote and mountainous region known for its rainforest landscapes and strong traditional culture. We base ourselves at an eco-retreat connected to a local village and where we begin a two-day village immersion. It's a truly unique opportunity for a deeper, hands-on connection to authentic Fijian life. We are welcomed into the community and learn about traditional farming methods, local food production and daily village living. We visit the local primary school and work alongside families to prepare a traditional meal using fresh, locally grown produce. This evening offers a unique opportunity to disconnect from modern life and interact with the local community and with each other. Accommodation: Namosi multi-share rooms

Meals:  Nil

Today we continue our village experience by taking part in daily activities and learning traditional skills from local community members. A highlight is working together to build a traditional bilibili raft from bamboo, a form of transport historically used along the river. Through practical activities, storytelling and cultural exchange, we gain a deeper appreciation of the resourcefulness, traditions and way of life of rural Fijian communities. Accommodation: Namosi multi-share rooms

Waking up ready for a rewarding physical challenge, we set out into Fiji’s highlands—an area known for its rugged terrain, dense rainforest and rich biodiversity. Accompanied by local guides, we hike through spectacular landscapes while learning about wetland ecosystems, native flora and fauna, and the environmental importance of these habitats. Exploring areas rarely visited by tourists, we gain insight into conservation and the deep connection between communities and their environment. It feels rewarding to be guided by and contribute to local workers along the way. In the evening, we travel on to Suva, noticing the shift in landscape, pace and atmosphere as we arrive in Fiji’s vibrant capital. Accommodation: Suva multi-share rooms

Meals:  Nil

Today is all about discovering what makes Fiji unique—its history, its people, and where it’s heading. In Suva, the country’s vibrant capital, we experience a dynamic mix of cultures shaped by Indigenous Fijian, Indian and wider Pacific influences. We visit the Fiji Museum to uncover stories from the past and better understand how Fiji’s identity has evolved. Then, meeting the Uto ni Yalo Trust, we learn how ancient Pacific voyaging skills are being brought back to life to support a more sustainable future. It’s an engaging day that brings Fiji’s culture, history and innovation to life. Accommodation: Suva multi-share rooms

Meals:  Nil

We wake to our final day of what has been an incredible trip. We enjoy one last tropical breakfast before making the most of our time in Fiji. We take part in a traditional masi printing activity—an art form using natural dyes to create patterns on bark cloth, a material made from the mulberry tree and used in ceremonies and daily life across the Pacific. There’s also time to explore, try some local foods and pick up souvenirs to take home. It’s a relaxed finish to the trip, with a chance to reflect on the experience before heading to the airport for our journey home.

Learning outcomes for students

World Expeditions Schools journeys are designed to encourage positive personal development and the learning of life skills, while leaving the communities and environments we travel to, in a better condition than when we arrived.
The programs are designed to:
• Build strong friendships and bonds with their peers, their teachers, and the local people they meet.
• Increase the confidence to engage with new people, and collaboratively make informed decisions.
• Discover the benefits of working cooperatively together as a cohesive team, to achieve a common objective.
• Increase the ability to face, and cope with, mental and physical challenges and therefore increase resilience.
• Give students a chance to appreciate and care for the natural world. The environments we travel through are beautiful and often pristine, invariably the students will gain a deeper appreciation and understanding about how their individual actions impact on the environment.
• Learn personal skills i.e., time management, personal hygiene, responsibility for personal gear, patience, tolerance, and public speaking.
We help encourage students to learn what it means to be a true global citizen.
