After months of planning and anticipation, we finally arrive in Fiji and begin our adventure. At the airport we meet our local guides, who will travel with us throughout the journey, before transferring to our accommodation and settling in. Following a trip briefing covering the week ahead, we head out to explore Nadi, Fiji's bustling tourism hub known for its colourful markets, tropical atmosphere and mix of Fijian, Indian and Pacific influences. As the sun sets, we enjoy our first evening together, soaking up the warm climate and excitement of the experiences that await over the coming days. Accommodation: Nadi multi-share rooms

Meals:  D

This morning we board a boat bound for the spectacular Yasawa Islands, a chain of remote volcanic islands famous for crystal-clear waters, white-sand beaches and vibrant coral reefs. These islands are home to some of Fiji's healthiest marine environments and provide the perfect outdoor classroom for learning about tropical ecosystems. Upon arrival at Barefoot Island, our home for the next three nights, we settle into island life and begin the Barefoot Manta Ocean Literacy Program. Through hands-on activities and expert guidance, we are introduced to Fiji's marine ecosystems and explore how coral reefs support biodiversity, local livelihoods and island communities. Accommodation: Drawaqa Island multi-share rooms

Meals:  B,L,D

Today we continue our Ocean Literacy Program and dive deeper into understanding the reef systems that surround the Yasawa Islands. Working alongside marine educators, we investigate reef ecology, marine species and the challenges facing tropical oceans. Between learning sessions, we enjoy time in the water exploring the reef environment firsthand through snorkelling in warm, clear conditions. A highlight of the day is paddling a traditional outrigger canoe, gaining insight into the important role these vessels have played in Pacific island life for generations. Accommodation: Drawaqa Island multi-share rooms

Meals:  B,L,D

Today combines community engagement with continued environmental learning. We visit a neighbouring school where we have the opportunity to meet local students and learn about life in a remote island community. Through shared activities and some volunteer service work, we gain a greater appreciation for the realities of island living and the strong sense of community that exists throughout the Yasawas. Back at Barefoot Island, we enjoy our last afternoon here swimming, snorkelling, and interacting with the local community. Accommodation: Drawaqa Island multi-share rooms

Meals:  B,L,D

This morning we bid farewell to our wonderful hosts and this beautiful island. It's time to return to the mainland! We travel north-west of Nadi to Fiji's beautiful Sun Coast, a quieter region known for its rural villages, coastline and strong connection to traditional Fijian culture. Here we stay at Nanumi Au, a locally owned and operated eco-village experience designed to share authentic Fijian life while supporting the local community. Throughout the day we take part in village activities, learn traditional skills and gain an understanding of how the community works towards self-sufficiency. We enjoy a cooking demonstration using local ingredients, sample traditional foods and spend time with community members whose stories and hospitality offer valuable insights into life beyond Fiji's tourism centres. Accommodation: Nanumi Au multi-share rooms

Meals:  B,L,D

After a tropical village breakfast, we change focus from the coastal environment and set out on foot to discover the land based environment of the Sun Coast. Our day includes a visit to Savulele Waterfalls, where a walking trail leads through lush vegetation, river crossings and tropical forest environments before reaching the impressive cascade. Along the way we learn about native plants, freshwater systems and the role these environments play in supporting local communities. Our guides share about the wetland ecosystems, helping us understand the biodiversity they support and why these habitats are so important for both wildlife and people living in the region. In the evening we enjoy a dinner supplied by the village surrounded by the unplugged sounds of nature. Accommodation: Nanumi Au multi-share rooms

Meals:  B,L,D

Today we explore the internationally recognised Vatu-i-Ra Marine Park, one of Fiji's most significant marine conservation areas. Before entering the water, local guides explain the cultural and environmental importance of the area, including the relationship between traditional land and sea ownership and modern conservation efforts. We then enjoy a guided snorkelling experience among healthy coral reefs and abundant marine life while learning how protected areas help preserve these ecosystems. Throughout our time on the Sun Coast, we also see how community-based tourism and local businesses help create sustainable livelihoods while sharing authentic Fijian culture with visitors. Accommodation: Nanumi Au multi-share rooms

Meals:  B,L,D

This morning we farewell our village hosts who have taught us so much about this land and culture, and begin the journey back to Nadi. Depending on flight schedules, we may visit a local eco-farm before heading to the airport. As our adventure comes to an end, we reflect on the unique combination of experiences that have shaped the journey—from living on a remote tropical island in the Yasawas and learning about Fiji's marine environments to sharing meals, stories and traditions in a rural Fijian village. We depart with a deeper understanding of Fiji's people, environment, and way of life.

Learning outcomes for students

World Expeditions Schools journeys are designed to encourage positive personal development and the learning of life skills, while leaving the communities and environments we travel to, in a better condition than when we arrived.
The programs are designed to:
• Build strong friendships and bonds with their peers, their teachers, and the local people they meet.
• Increase the confidence to engage with new people, and collaboratively make informed decisions.
• Discover the benefits of working cooperatively together as a cohesive team, to achieve a common objective.
• Increase the ability to face, and cope with, mental and physical challenges and therefore increase resilience.
• Give students a chance to appreciate and care for the natural world. The environments we travel through are beautiful and often pristine, invariably the students will gain a deeper appreciation and understanding about how their individual actions impact on the environment.
• Learn personal skills i.e., time management, personal hygiene, responsibility for personal gear, patience, tolerance, and public speaking.
We help encourage students to learn what it means to be a true global citizen.
