The Italy Tour is a program carefully created for schools interested in immersing in the vast history and culture within Italy. Students will have the opportunity to engage in an Italian cooking class, allowing a hands-on experience with the delicious cuisine, be creative and make a Venetian mask, and visit historical sites to further knowledge about major events and their impacts on Italy and its towns. Local tour guides will take students to some of the most famous sights, sites and museums Italy have to offer while providing informative and interpretive commentary.

Itinerary

Day 1
Rome Arrival

Upon arrival at Rome FCO airport you will be met by your tour manager who will stay with you throughout the tour. You will be transferred to your hotel and the remainder of the day will be free at leisure.

Day 2
Tour of Rome

Today you will have a full day guided tour of Rome during which you will visit the Colosseum and Roman Forum and see sights such as the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.

Day 3
Vatican City and Appian Way

This morningyou will have a guided tour of the Vatican with a visit to the Vatican Musuem including the Sistine Chapel and the St. Peter’s Basilica. In the afternoon you will visit the Appian Way with a visit to the St. Callixtus Catacombs.

Day 4
Visit Villa d’Este

In the morning head to Tivoli (45 minutes) where you will visit Villa d’Este. The afternoon will be free at leisure in Rome.

Day 5
Naples Archaeological Museum

Transfer to the train station from where you will take the train to Naples (approximately 1.10 hours). On arrival in Naples you will visit the archaeological museum with a local guide.

Day 6
Excursion to the Island of Capri

Transfer to Naples port and sail to the island of Capri for an excursion. Visit Anacapri and the Blue Grotto before transferring back to the hotel.

Day 7
Pompeii Archaeological Site

On this day enjoy a visit to the famous archaeological site of Pompeii. In the afternoon you will be free at leisure.

Day 8
Walking Tour of Florence

This morning you will take a train to Florence (approximately 3.10 hours). When you arrive in Florence make your way to the hotel and in the afternoon have a guided walking tour of the city. During the tour view the main sights such as the Piazza della Signoria and the Ponte Vecchio and visit the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore.

Day 9
Galleria dell’Accademia Tour and Cooking Class

In the morning you will have a guided tour of the Galleria dell’Accademia and in the afternoon you will enjoy a hands-on immersion into the Italian culture with a pizza and gelato cooking class which can be eaten for dinner.

Day 10
Venice Tour

Take the train to Venice (approximately 2.10 hours) in the morning and be transferred to your hotel by boat on arrival. In the afternoon you will have a guided walking tour of the city during which you will see the main sights such as the St. Mark’s Square and Bridge of Sighs and visit the St. Mark’s Basilica. Later on have a 30 minute gondola tour on the canals.

Day 11
Excursion to Murano and Burano

Today you will go on a full day excursion by boat to the islands of Murano and Burano. You'll visit a glass blowing workshop for a demonstration and see the colourful houses of Burano.

Day 12
Visit the Doge’s Palace and have a Venetian mask making workshop

In the morning you will have a guided tour of the Doge’s Palace and in the afternoon you can be creative with a Venetian mask making workshop. The remainder of the day will be free at leisure.

Depart Italy

Transfer to Venice airport; end of services upon arrival at the airport.
