This morning you’ll visit two of Kathmandu’s most important cultural sites: the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath and the giant Buddhist stupa at Boudhanath. In the afternoon, there may be time to explore the valley further on foot, discovering local markets, artisan shops and quiet courtyards that reveal the city’s rich cultural layers.

A short morning flight takes us to Pokhara, with stunning views of the Annapurna range en route. From here, we drive north through terraced foothills to the road’s end at Kimchi, the starting point of our trek. The trail climbs steadily through thick forest and terraced farmland to the striking Gurung village of Ghandruk, nestled against a spectacular Himalayan backdrop. The village’s stone houses, narrow laneways and panoramic views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare (Fishtail Peak) make this a memorable first night in the mountains. Overnight in private campsite at Ghandruk (2050m / 6725ft). Walking time approximately 2 hours Drive time approximately 2–3 hours

Meals:  B,L,D

This morning, the trail leads us uphill through forest filled with rhododendron, oak and moss-draped fig trees. Waterfalls tumble from narrow gullies and the forest is alive with bird calls. As we ascend, we’ll catch glimpses of the peaks through the trees before arriving in the small village of Tadapani. This is the last village before we head into the more remote regions of our trek. Overnight in eco-lodge at Tadapani (2650m / 8695ft). Walking time approximately 4 hours

Meals:  B,L,D

Leaving the main trail, we ascend gradually into undisturbed forest. If we’re lucky, we may see Himalayan Thar or langur monkeys in the trees. As we climb higher, we reach yak pastures and alpine meadows with breathtaking views of Annapurna South and Himchuli. We break for lunch at Timuje, a windswept yak pasture perched high on the hillside. Later, we ascend to a ridgeline with views of the Dhaulagiri range before descending through rhododendron forest to our remote campsite, perched high above the valley. Overnight in eco-lodge at Bhaisi Kharka (3420m / 11,220ft). Walking time approximately 6-7 hours

Meals:  B,L,D

Today’s trail continues along alpine ridges and thick forest to reach the high pastures of Chistibung, where we stop for lunch. The afternoon climb brings us to the magnificent setting of Kopra Ridge – one of the finest vantage points in the Annapurnas. From here, the enormous south face of Dhaulagiri (8167m / 26,795ft) dominates the western skyline. Few travellers venture here, making this location all the more special. Overnight in eco-lodge at Kopra (3660m / 12,010ft). Walking time approximately 7-8 hours

Meals:  B,L,D

For those keen for a full day adventure, we’ll trek along a remote pilgrimage trail towards sacred Khayer Lake (4600m / 15,090ft). This beautiful alpine lake sits beneath Annapurna Fang and offers extraordinary views along the way. The walk is long and challenging, and is entirely optional – you may also choose to relax at Kopra and take in the spectacular scenery at your own pace. Overnight in eco-lodge at Kopra (3660m / 12,010ft). Walking time approximately 9-10 hours

Meals:  B,L,D

Today’s descent takes us through forest alive with birds and butterflies as we leave the high ridges behind. The trail passes through smaller settlements, with occasional sightings of shepherds or villagers tending their crops. Swantha is a peaceful and rarely visited village nestled among terraced hills. Overnight in private campsite at Swantha (2400m / 7875ft). Walking time approximately 6-7 hours

Meals:  B,L,D

We join the old Tibet-Nepal trade route to Ghorepani, a bustling village on the main Annapurna circuit. After lunch, we’ll ascend Poon Hill (3200m / 10,500ft) – a famed viewpoint for Himalayan sunrises. Instead of the pre-dawn crowd, we visit in the afternoon when the trail is quiet. From here, a short, steep climb brings us to Upper Phulbari, a lesser-known ridge above Poon Hill offering even more spectacular views, without the crowds. Overnight in eco-lodge at Phulbari (3210m / 10,530ft). Walking time approximately 5-5 hours

Meals:  B,L,D

Start the day with sweeping views of Nilgiri, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri glowing in the morning light. The trail weaves through serene rhododendron forest, eventually opening onto grassy ridgelines. After lunch in a colourful forest gully, we follow a little-used southern trail to reach Les Par, a peaceful and secluded location well away from the main paths. Overnight in private campsite at Les Par (2600m / 8530ft). Walking time approximately 6-7 hours

Meals:  B,L,D

We continue our descent along an old ridgeline trail with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Passing through small farming communities and subtropical forests, the path eventually leads to Ghibrang, a quiet village where few trekkers visit. Overnight in private campsite at Ghibrang (2000m / 6560ft). Walking time approximately 4-5 hours

Meals:  B,L,D

Our final day on the trail takes us through terraced hillsides and Gurung villages before we reach the roadhead at Nayapul. From here, we transfer back to Pokhara for a well-earned rest, a hot shower, and time to reflect on an incredible trekking adventure.

Meals:  B,L,D

We leave the mountains behind and journey south to the lowlands of the Terai region. The landscape changes dramatically as we descend into the lush jungles surrounding Chitwan National Park – one of Asia’s premier wildlife reserves. After checking in at our peaceful jungle base, Sapana Village Lodge, we’ll meet our local naturalist guides and enjoy a relaxing afternoon settling into our surroundings.

Meals:  B,L,D

The day begins early with a guided birdwatching and village walk, offering a glimpse into traditional Tharu life. After breakfast, we join an elephant care program where we prepare kuchi treats and feed rescued elephants their daily fruits and vegetables under the guidance of experienced handlers. In the afternoon, we head into the park on a jeep safari in search of rhino, deer, monkeys and, with luck, elusive tigers or leopards. We round out the day with a traditional Tharu Stick Dance performance that celebrates the music, rhythm and resilience of this Indigenous community. Note: this itinerary offers the option to include a hands-on service learning component of one to five days in/around Chitwan, providing a unique opportunity to give back while gaining deeper insight into everyday life in rural Nepal. Students may work alongside local builders and villagers on school upgrades, women's empowerment initiatives or conservation efforts. It is a chance to contribute in a meaningful way, build genuine connections and engage directly with the community. Chat with your Schools Manager to discuss itinerary options. *Specific tasks will be confirmed closer to your departure date.

Meals:  B,L,D

An early start sees us begin the drive north, winding from the flat Terai back into the Kathmandu Valley. En route, we reflect on the incredible contrasts we've experienced, from the high Himalaya to the subtropical jungle. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, there’s time to relax and freshen up at our hotel before a final celebratory group dinner together - the perfect way to share highlights from the past two weeks and mark the end of an unforgettable journey.

Meals:  B,L,D

After an amazing time in Nepal, it is time to say goodbye to our new friends and head home. After breakfast, transfer to airport for return trip home.

Learning outcomes for students

World Expeditions Schools journeys are designed to encourage positive personal development and the learning of life skills, while leaving the communities and environments we travel to, in a better condition than when we arrived.
The programs are designed to align with the United Nations SDG's and to:
• build strong friendships and bonds with their peers, their teachers, and the local people they meet.
• increase the confidence to engage with new people, and collaboratively make informed decisions.
• discover the benefits of working cooperatively together as a cohesive team, to achieve a common objective.
• Increase the ability to face, and cope with, mental and physical challenges and therefore increase resilience.
• give students a chance to appreciate and care for the natural world. The environments we travel through are beautiful and often pristine, invariably the students will gain a deeper appreciation and understanding about how their individual actions impact on the environment.
• Learn personal skills i.e., time management, personal hygiene, responsibility for personal gear, patience, tolerance, and public speaking.
We help encourage students to learn what it means to be a true global citizen.
