After so many months thinking, preparing, and planning for your Cambodian adventure to begin the day has finally arrived! Please make your way to Melbourne Airport to check in for your overnight flight to Siem Reap via Bangkok.

Welcome to Cambodia! On arrival in Siem Reap you will be met at the airport by your English speaking guide and transferred to our centrally located hotel aboard a modern coach equipped with seat belts. For the duration of the visit in Siem Reap the group will be allocated an English speaking guide and a private vehicle which will provide all your transportation. This will make it easier and more convenient to manage the various activities, programs and site visits you will be experiencing across the adventure. Today we will head straight to the Angkor Museum, a profound cultural landmark in Siem Reap. This world class interactive museum will give the students an ideal background on the golden era of the Khmer Kingdom before visiting the temples. Tonight we have a welcome dinner at Marum Restaurant, offering not only great food, but also building a new life for the disadvantaged youth in training there. Overnight: Siem Reap

Today we will get up early for breakfast before heading to our project site at the Treak Community Centre. We will continue the great work done here by Braemar College students in 2014. You will be divided into sub groups to work on different components of the project. We will take the time to take a walk through the surrounding community whilst gaining a better understanding of the people and their way of life. You should wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty or paint on. The people from the local village and school will be very receptive to your visit and the improvements that you are making which will bring long term benefits to the entire village. The difference this work will make for the community can not be underestimated. In addition to the friendships formed, it will foster closer relationships between the two countries and schools. At the end of our second day, we say farewell to the centre and our new found friends. The project is set up alongside our Travel, Give, Grow concept, offering unique experiences to help foster respect for the natural world as well as the diverse peoples and cultures that live in it. This style of travel helps develop confidence, resilience, tolerance, problem solving abilities, team work, fitness and key life skills. We will return to our hotel late in the afternoon to refresh before heading out to dinner at a local restaurant. On the first night we will visit the famous PHARE circus. The circus is an International quality program designed to take in street kids and train them to be performers. The circus travels around the world and appears on some of the biggest stages. It is a fantastic experience we know you will love! On the second night we have the opportunity to head to the night markets where you can purchase gifts and souvenirs. Overnight: Siem Reap

Today is a special day as we make our way out to the magnificent temples of Angkor, full of magical highlights! We will start by exploring the ancient city of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire under the reign of Jayavarman VII, surrounded by an 8 meter high wall. We then continue to Bayon Temple, a 12th century masterpiece in the exact centre of the city. Possibly one of the most enjoyable is Ta Prohm temple, where the Tomb Raider movies were set and filmed. Ta Prohm is unique in that it has been left largely as it was found: overgrown by jungle. This makes Ta Prohm one of the most memorable of the Angkor temples. Photo opportunities await around every corner. We will then experience the largest and most impressive of all the temples in Angkor: Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat was built between 1112 and 1152 by King Suryavarman II and dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu god of preservation. It is the best preserved of all the temples. Its layout and its scale are simply breathtaking: the wall surrounding the enclosure measures 1,000 by 800 meters in length and the moat, said to represent the oceans of the world, is 200 meters wide. We have the opportunity to visit a local pagoda within the temple where we will be welcomed by Buddhist Monks and hear about their life and understand more about Buddhism in the region. Tonight we will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant whilst watching a special cultural performance of the "Aspara Dance Show". Overnight: Siem Reap

This morning after breakfast we will visit Banteay Srey temple, which is considered by many to be the most magnificent of all the temples in the Khmer crown. The temple is located around 35 km away from Siem Reap, passing through several small Cambodian villages along the way. This is a great opportunity to see local life and stop and meet the local peoples. We will have lunch in a local restaurant after our exploration. On our return to Siem Reap, we will visit the Mebon mountain, an architectural and artistic temple-mountain. We can climb to the top to get stunning views of the surrounding countryside. On arrival back into Siem Reap, we will transfer to the airport for our 45 minute flight to Phnom Penh. On arrival we meet our local guide and transfer to our hotel. We will have a short time to rest before we head our to a local restaurant for dinner. Overnight: Phnom Penh

After breakfast at our hotel we will head out for a very special day. We will drive to Phnom Tamao to the Free the Bears wildlife sanctuary to join their "Keeper for a Day" Program. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get behind the scenes at one of the best wildlife centres in South East Asia as they join the Free the Bears education program. Late this afternoon we will return to Phnom Penh and enjoy a farewell dinner. Overnight: Phnom Penh

This morning is a very important, but also confronting, part of our journey as we visit the Toul Sleng Museum of Genocidal Crimes and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. Both sites will provide an insight into the recent Cambodia history and in particular the Pol Pot era. After our visit here we will have lunch and time for reflection before traveling back to Phnom Penh. We have some free time before heading out to enjoy a sunset river cruise and later dinner along the riverside. Overnight: Phnom Penh

Today we rise and have some free time to rest and relax before heading out for our final cultural experience program including The National Museum, The Royal Palace and the adjoining Silver Pagoda. The Silver Pagoda, also known as the Pagoda of the Emerald Buddha, was created by King Norodom in 1892. The floor is comprised of more than 5,000 silver blocks, weighing a total of 6 tones. There will also be some time to visit the famous Russian markets where you can pick up any last minute souvenirs. We then return to the hotel where we have a few rooms with late check out to have a shower and freshen up before packing and transferring to the airport for our onward flight.
