On this specially designed Canyon Extension program students will extend their learning, skills and confidence on more advanced Blue Mountains Canyons in a small group and under the guidanace of qualified Guides.

The advanced canyon program involves many abseils, some of which may be tricky. Access to and from the canyons is strenuous and at times very steep. Some exits involve scrambling or short rock climbs. Our full canyon day is long where students are moving through eneven terrain. All participants are required to carry a backpack throughout the day that may weigh up to 8kg. Canyons may also involve swimming in very cold water for prolonged periods of time. The program is designed to extend students who joined the Year 10 Roping program or for students who have had some previous abseil/roping experience. Day 1
Arrive Katoomba. Abseil refresher and Empress Canyon

Group to arrive at Katoomba Station by 0800. Your Guide will meet you at the station and escort you on the short walk to the BMAC office. "Warami mittigar" - Hello friend. We welcome you to Dharug Country "Biimbiigang" - Greetings. We invite you to Gundungurra Country Welcome briefing and program overview with Guides and wetsuit fitting. At 0845 depart the BMAC office for North Boyce Abseil Refresher (including 60m abseil) and then on to Empress Canyon where you will scramble, wade, swim and jump leading to a thrilling climax - an amazing 30 metre abseil straight down a pounding waterfall. The walk out is short and steep, 25 minutes up the stairs and you’re back at the carpark. Your Guide will drop you at your accommodation and advise pick up time for tomorrow morning. Overnight - Shared dormitary (exclusive use rooms), YHA Katoomba Dinner in Katoomba (under teacher supervision).

Day 2
Full Day Canyon

0630 Breakfast 0730 Depart Katoomba for our full day challenging canyoning adventure (as recommended by BMAC Guides). Our advanced canyons are action packed with lots of variety, numerous abseils and great action packed trip offering lots of variety, numerous abseils and generally include an adrenalin pumping waterjump or two! Our advanced canyons will require scrambling and moving over rocky terrain. You will always be safely roped and belayed by our experienced guides on any exposed section. The steep exit walk and climb usually takes 2-3 hours. Our challening canyons are physically demanding, exciting, adventurous and rewarding. The program conclude around 5pm at the BMAC office where students will have an opportunity to collect their bags and freshen up before their return to Sydney.

Grading

This specially designed extension program for Pymble Ladies' College is great fun, and we want to ensure students have the best experience possible in the remote regions we explore. Participants should have a high level of fitness and good mobility as we will be moving through uneven terrain in a remote environment. Our advanced canyoning day is long, challenging and in a remote location. The terrain is steep and strenuous with several short scrambling sections. There are several abseils and technical rope work within the canyons. Participants must have some abseiling and canyoning experience.
