On this spectacular expedition, you'll discover an abundance of wildlife, sculpted rock landscapes, pristine beaches, turquoise blue waters and dramatic coastlines as you trek along the newly developed Wild South Coast Way on South Australia's Heysen Trail. The Wild South Coast Way provides trekkers with a genuine sense of wilderness, featuring remote beaches, native bushland, rugged cliffs, First Nations’ history, breathtaking vistas, deep gullies and a rich diversity of native birds, bush and wildlife. Each day of the walk delivers a new experience and challenge.

Day 1
Fly Sydney to Adelaide. Expeditions shopping, transfer and trek

Fly Sydney to Adelaide. Pick up Adelaide airport by your World Expeditions Schools Guide. Welcome brief and gear check and transfer into Adelaide for expedition food shopping. Two hour transfer to drop off at Cobbler Hill. Final check of food, packs etc and safety brief. Team walks approx 3km to Wuldi Krikin Ngawanthi (Eagle Waterhole) camp.

Day 2
Wuldi Krikin Ngawanthi (Eagle Waterhole) to Yapari Ngawanthi (Cliffs camp)

Wuldi Krikin Ngawanthi (Eagle Waterhole) to Yapari Ngawanthi (Cliffs camp) Walk 14km, approx 5 hours.

Day 3
Trek Yapari Ngawanthi (Cliffs camp) to Kurri Ngawanthi camp

Trek Yapari Ngawanthi (Cliffs Camp) to Kurri Ngawanthi camp Walk 17km, approx 5 hours.

Day 4
Kurri Ngawanthi camp to Natunyuru Ngawanthi (Sand Dunes)

Kurri Ngawanthi camp to Natunyuru Ngawanthi (Sand Dunes) Walk 13km, approx 5 hours

Day 5
Waitpinga to The Bluff, transfer to Adelaide (13.5km)

Natunyuru Ngawanthi (Sand Dunes) to the Bluff/Encounter Bay Walk 12km, 4 hours On completion of your trek, you will be met and transferred back to Adelaide airport (approx 2 hours) for your flight to Sydney.

Learning outcomes for students

• basic outdoor skills obtained on trek such as personal hygiene, pitching a tent, helping to prepare meals
Importantly our adventures help increase general well-being and build resilience in young citizens to help them deal with adverse situations in life.

Accommodation

CAMPING

On the Wild South Coast Way we stay at public campsites. Each campsite has tent sites for self-guided walkers, and a separate area for group tour tent sites, a communal kitchen and dining shelter, toilets and rainwater.
