This morning we take a flight west to Pokhara, Nepal's second largest town (820m). On arrival we are met at the airport and drive a short distance to Pokhara township where we will have lunch and meet our crew. We then board our private vehicle and drive past a Tibetan Refuge Camp, to the road head to commence our trek. The students will be responsible for carrying all their personal equipment on the trek, whilst our Sherpa crew will carry all the group requirement. We immediately leave the main road and ascend steeply towards the ridge where we gain panoramic views of the Annapurna mountain range in the distance. The scale of the imposing mountains astounds us as we gaze at the adjacent peaks of Machapuchare (6993m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Annapurna South (7219m). We follow a ridge through fields and clumps of bamboo before arriving at the small village town of Dampus, our stop for the night. Villagers greet us with "Namaste", the traditional Nepalese greeting as we have wonderful views across the Annapurna Range. Overnight eco-lodge

This is an interesting day with some steep sections as we trek through mainly forest, in and out of gullies, as the path leads us toward the mountains. The rhododendron forests are lush and offer a protective canopy for the smaller delicate flora. It also provides a haven for birdlife and we can hear their varied calls as we move through. Local villagers use the trail to take goods to market, and children pass by on their way to school. The trail soon opens onto fields as we approach the village of Landrung for spectacular views of the Annapurna Range. Overnight eco lodge

Meals:  B,L,D

The views from our campsite are excellent, and morning generally offers the best opportunity to view the huge peaks. As we walk, the peaks of the Annapurnas will be visible through the scattered rhododendron forest, offering a sample of the trek to come. As we reach Deroli (2200m) we can get our first views of Dhaulagiri, the world's 6th highest peak. We take lunch at Forest Camp, and after our longer uphill morning session, this afternoon will be a more gradual ascent to our ecolodge. Overnight eco lodge

Meals:  B,L,D

The views today are fantastic as the spectacular mountains start opening up around us. Our trail runs through fields and into forest of rhododendron, magnolia and lichen covered fig. We are away from the main trails now and pass by waterfalls that cascade down narrow gullies that provide the perfect home for many small ferns and plants such as exotic orchids. We rise above 2500 mtrs in altitude as we approach our eco lodge located in the village Tadapani. Overnight eco-lodge

Meals:  B,L,D

Our walk today joins the old Tibet-Nepal trade route. It is a challenging day as we rise and fall with the path. We have risen above the tree-line, and now have excellent views of the dramatic range of mountains known as the Dhaulagiri Himal as the trail zigzags until we reach Ghorapani. This is a larger trading town complete with markets and bazaars. We have the chance to wander through the trading areas this afternoon before heading to bed early in preparation for our early morning climb on Poon Hill. Overnight eco lodge

Meals:  B,L,D

This morning we wake early for our steep climb to the famous view point of Poon Hill. From Ghorepani a pre dawn 45 minutes mostly staired climb brings us to the summit of Poon Hill (3200m). The view of the Himalaya from here are tremendous, with forested foot hills as a fore ground and some of the world's greatest mountain ranges surrounding us. The glow of the rising sun catches Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and Annapurna, making the early morning rise more than worth the effort. We descend to Ghorepani for breakfast and during the morning we descend further through first and small settlements to Ulleri. Overnight eco-lodge Ulleri

Meals:  B,L,D

Today is the last day of our trek as we head out of the forest to the road head where we meet our vehicle for the drive to Pokhara. On arrival at our permanent eco camp in Pokhara we say goodbye to our crew who have been with us for the last 7 days. Tonight we will have a celebration dinner with the crew. Overnight Hotel Tulsi Pokhara

Meals:  B,L,D

After breakfast we say goodbye one last time to our new found friends and transfer to the airport for your flight to Kathmandu. On arrival transfer to your hotel, this afternoon is at leisure for last minute shopping and exploration of Kathmandu as well as organising your luggage for your flight home. Tonight we will head out on a farewell dinner and debriefing to reflect on our journey. Overnight Hotel Le Himalaya

Learning outcomes for students

A World Expeditions Schools adventure is a unique learning experience. Our journeys are designed to encourage thriving and positive youth development along with leaving the communities and environments where we travel in a better condition than when we arrived.
The programs are designed to enhance the following life skills that will help you grow as an individual:
• the confidence to lead a group and make decisions
• the value of working together as a cohesive team to achieve a common objective
• the ability to face mental and physical challenges
