The Arts Study Tour is a program carefully sculpted for schools interested in immersing in the vast history and development of arts within France and Germany. Students will have the opportunity to discover new art skills while viewing a range of arts styles, learning about the meaning and significance behind arts, and exploring how each artist is unique and how time periods may impact pieces. Local tour guides will take students to some of the most famous sights, galleries and museums France and Germany have to offer while providing informative and interpretive commentary.


Grading:Adventure touring   

Arrive in Paris where a guide will meet you at the airport for a transfer to your hotel. Check-in to the hotel and have a tour and safety brief.

Meals:  Nil

You will be issued a 2-day, 3 zones Paris Visite Metro pass for a full day guided tour. The tour will take you to see the main sites of Paris such as Champs Elysees, Arc du Triomphe, Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower. There will be time for lunch under own arrangements before entering the Musee d'Orsay, a museum holding predominately French art of multiple mediums.

Using your Paris Visite Metro pass, you will participate in another full day tour to further explore Paris. A local guide will take you through the Louvre Museum (subject to availability). After a lunch break, you will stop to view the Notre Dame Cathedral.

Transfer to Giverny (approximately 1.15 hours) for a half day excursion. Visit Monet’s House and see the beautiful home and garden of the French painter before returning to Paris.

Transfer to the train station to catch a train to Aix-en-Provence (approximately 3 hours). With a local guide and coach for a half day tour, you will view the main sites and visit Atelier des Lauves - Cezanne's studio, the studio where Cezanne’s worked till the end of his life.

After breakfast, transfer to Saint Tropez (approximately 2 hours) for a guided tour of the main sites. The tour will continue to Musee de l'Annonciade, a museum holding impressive artworks from 1890 to 1950. Transfer to Nice (approximately 1.50 hours).

This morning, enjoy a 3-hour morning city tour where you will have the opportunity to view the main sites of Nice and visit Musee Matisse, a museum devoted to the work of French painter Henri Matisse. Transfer to Antibes (30 minutes) to visit Musee Picasso, a museum showcasing Picasso artworks. Transfer back to Nice.

Transfer to Nice airport via local coach to fly to Berlin where a guide will meet you at the airport to take you on a 3-hour panoramic tour to the main sights to see spectacular views and get an introduction the city.

A 1-day public transport card will be issued for a full day guided tour. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to view the main sights of Berlin and visit the Pergamon Museum, famous for its archaeological holdings, and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, a space for progressive and innovative artistic practices.

Transfer to Dresden (approximately 3.15 hours). With a local guide, engage in a 4-hour tour of Dresden city. Begin by exploring the main sights before entering Green Vault, a museum containing the largest treasure collection in Europe. Following the Green Vault you will visit the Richard Wagner Museum, recording three parts of the life and work of Richard Wagner, the history of the Bayreuth Festival and the historical impact of his work. The remainder of the day is free to explore under supervision of your teachers.

Transfer to Leipzig (approximately 1.50 hours) for a city tour. View the main cites and enter the Museum of Musical Instruments with a guided tour. The museum presents an extensive musical instrument collection and provides insight into instruments and historic performance practice. Transfer to Bayreuth (approximately 3.20 hours).

Participate in a half day city tour with a local guide, viewing the main sites of Bayreuth and enter the Hermitage Old Palace which was built in 1715. The afternoon will be free to explore under supervision of your teachers.

Transfer to Rothenburg ob der Tauber (approximately 2.45 hours). Enjoy a 1.30-hour walking tour with a local guide. During the tour, you will view main sights and stop to view Baumeisterhaus, Plönlein along with the Old Town and walls. There will be free time for lunch under own arrangements before transferring to Munich (approximately 4.15 hours).

You will be issued a 1-day public transport ticket for full day self-guided art visits. Visit the Alte Pinakothek, an old gallery housing a collection of old master paintings, and the Pinakothek der Moderne, a modern art museum, contrasting old and modern art. Finally, enter the Glyptothek (Museum of Sculpture).

In a half day guided tour, visit the main sights of Munich such as Marienplatz, a central square in the city centre, as well as Olympiapark. The remainder of the afternoon is free at leisure.

After breakfast, transfer to Munich airport and depart.
