It's a chance to talk through the 8 days ahead, get some local tips for navigating our surrounds and the local culture, and to get to know our guides. Depending on when we arrive, we may have time to do some exploring and get our first taste of island life. Day 2
Explore Port Vila, experience Pepeyo culture, meet students at Lycée LAB
This morning we dive straight into life on Efate with a guided exploration of Port Vila, discovering local landmarks, history and the bustling Central Market. During a Pepeyo cultural and educational tour, we get hands-on insight into traditional Ni-Vanuatu life through practices such as fishing, farming and food preparation. Then it’s time to put our French into action at Lycée LAB, where we meet local students for a school exchange and experience another side of everyday life in Vanuatu. This is the first of many opportunities to test our language skills in an authentic and immersive setting. Overnight: Shared Dorms, Port Vila
Day 3
Practise French at Alliance Française, kayak a tropical river
We start the day immersed in French at Alliance Française de Port-Vila, Vanuatu’s French language and cultural centre, where we take part in a dedicated language workshop and build confidence using French beyond the classroom. Then we swap our notebooks for paddles and head out onto the Rentapao River, a calm freshwater waterway on Efate surrounded by lush tropical rainforest and village communities. As we kayak through this beautiful natural environment, we gain a completely different perspective on Vanuatu's landscapes and daily life. With a French-speaking guide accompanying our kayaking experience, there are even more opportunities to practise our language skills in authentic, real-world conversations as we explore. Overnight: Shared Dorms, Port Vila
Day 4
Bushwalk through villages, Lycée LAB language school immersion
We lace up our walking shoes for a morning exploring another side of Efate on a guided discovery bushwalk. Travelling through rainforest, village gardens and local communities, we gain a deeper understanding of the landscapes, traditions and daily life that shape island living. Along the way, we visit a local French-speaking school, providing an authentic opportunity to practise our language skills and connect with students in a real-world setting. In the afternoon, we return to Lycée LAB to continue our school engagement program, strengthening the friendships and cultural connections developed throughout the exchange while spending more time learning alongside local students. Overnight: Shared Dorms, Port Vila
Day 5
Snorkel with sea turtles and help replant coral
Today we change focus and we head to the water for a full day that combines marine adventure with hands-on conservation. Mask and snorkel on, we explore Vanuatu’s vibrant tropical reefs and crystal-clear waters, with the chance to encounter sea turtles and other marine life in their natural habitat. But today is about more than just what we can see beneath the surface. We learn about the importance of healthy coral reef ecosystems and the environmental challenges they face, before taking part in a coral replanting activity that contributes to local conservation efforts. By combining snorkelling, environmental education and practical action, the day offers a meaningful opportunity to better understand and help protect Vanuatu’s unique marine environment. Overnight: Shared Dorms, Port Vila
Day 6
French language workshop, Vanuatu Skybridge adventure
We begin the day at Alliance Française de Port-Vila, taking part in our last dedicated French language workshop. It's a chance to build confidence and strengthen our communication skills through interactive activities and consolidate all we've learned this last week. With our language skills refreshed, we head into the rainforest for an afternoon adventure. At the Vanuatu Skybridge, we cross a series of suspended bridges high above the forest floor, enjoying spectacular views across the surrounding tropical landscape from a unique vantage point. For those seeking an extra thrill, an optional zipline experience is available. Combining language learning with outdoor adventure, today showcases another side of Vanuatu while continuing our French immersion journey. Overnight: Shared Dorms, Port Vila
Day 7
Nguna Island adventure, farewell dinner at French restaurant L'Houstalet
It's our last full day in Vanuatu and we're in for a full day adventure! We leave Port Vila behind and head to Nguna to experience the natural beauty and community life of one of Vanuatu's outer islands. On arrival, we explore on foot, choosing between a more challenging volcano walk with panoramic views or a gentler village walk that provides insight into local culture and daily life. After a buffet lunch, we cool off with a swim and snorkel in the island's clear lagoon and fringing reef before taking part in a hands-on conservation activity that supports local environmental initiatives. After we ferry back to Port Vila we freshen up for our final evening together - a beautiful dinner at L'Houstalet, one of Vanuatu's best-known French restaurants. Sharing a final meal together provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on the friendships, cultural connections and language skills developed throughout an unforgettable week of French learning and discovery in Vanuatu. Overnight: Shared Dorms, Port Vila
Day 8
Farewell Port Vila and depart Vanuatu
We enjoy our final morning in Port Vila, taking time to relax, reflect on the experiences of the past week and soak up the last moments of island life. Depending on our flight schedule, there may be an opportunity for some final sightseeing, souvenir shopping or time together before departure. When it is time to leave, we transfer to Port Vila International Airport for our flight home. As we farewell Vanuatu, we take with us not only memories of our adventures, cultural exchanges and new friendships, but also greater confidence using French in real-world settings and a deeper appreciation of Vanuatu’s unique people, culture and natural environment.
